This beautiful desert park is 52 miles northeast of Las Vegas and only six miles from Lake Mead. A visit to the park is a trip back in time where visitors can experience red sandstone rock formations that have been carved by centuries of wind erosion into many exotic shapes. Ancient trees and early man are represented throughout the park by areas of petrified wood and 3,000 year-old Indian petroglyph.
Entrance Fee: An entrance fee is charged to enter the park, with additional fee for camping. Current fees are posted at the park entrance. Currently the fee is $10.00 per vehicle.
Visitor Information: The visitor center provides exhibits on the geology, ecology, prehistory, and history of the park and the nearby region. It is strongly recommended that each visitor make this an early stop after entering the park. Postcards, books, and film are on sale for your convenience. Open daily, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
In the city of Overton, a short distance from Valley of Fire, the Lost City Museum contains artifacts from ancient Indian civilizations that once lived on the banks of the nearby Muddy River. Hours: 8:30 to 4:30 daily (closed Thanksgiving Day, Dec. 25 and Jan. 1)
Admission: $3.00 for for adults 18-64; $2.00 for seniors 65+; children under 18 and members, free.
