- Calico Ghost Town
10 miles north of Barstow, Exit I-15 at Ghost Town Rd.

1881 Marked the beginning of one of the largest silver
strikes in California history and the birth of Calico. This
authentic silver mining town lives on as one of the few
original mining camps of the Old West. Admission is $6.00
for adults, $3.00 for youth and free for children 5
& under. South on I-15 about 2 1/2 hours from Las Vegas.

Nelson is located in the El Dorado Canyon and is also the home of the historical Techatticup Mining Camp. The Techatticup was most successful mine in Southern Nevada, mining millions of dollars in gold, silver, copper and lead throughout the years.
Directions: follow I-95 south of Boulder City for 13 miles to SR 165. Turn left on SR 165 (Nelson Road) for about 11 miles to Nelson. Continuing from Nelson, the Techatticup Mine is just a few more miles down the winding road.

Rhyolite sprung up in 1905 after the discovery of gold in the area. The population rose to an estmated 10,000 to become one of the largest cities in Nevada, but by 1919 in was a ghost town. Rhyolite is located 4 miles west of the town of Beatty, Nevada on HWY 374. about 120 miles from Las Vegas.
