The Las Vegas Signs Project officially "opened" with the installation of its first refurbished sign, The Hacienda Horse and Rider, on November 15, 1996 at the intersection of Las Vegas Blvd. and Fremont Street.

Currently, seven restored signs from the 1950s are on display, including the Silver Slipper, the Bow & Arrow Motel, Binionís Horseshoe, Society Cleaners, the Lucky Cuss Hotel and the Normandy Hotel in addition to the Hacienda Horse and Rider and can all be seen 24 hours a day 7 days a week in outdoor "galleries".
