The Lion Habitat, located inside the MGM Grand Hotel Casino near the entertainment dome, features a variety of lions including Goldie, Metro and Baby Lion, descendants of MGM Studios' famous signature marquee lion, Metro. Guests can be encircled by lions at any time via a see-through walk-way tunnel that runs through the habitat, allowing lions to prowl above and below.
The lion habitat is adorned with stone, indigenous trees and foliage in a truly magnificent, state-of-art showcase, featuring four separate waterfalls, overhangs, a pond and Acacia trees. Skylights and walls reaching heights of 35 feet provide maximum viewing for guests. Admission to the habitat is complimentary.
Veteran animal trainer/owner Keith Evans oversees, trains, feeds, and nurtures the lions. With more than 30 years of wildlife training experience, Evans has worked with every type of animal in the world. "Lions are my everyday life," Evans said. "They require much respect and trust. You can feel the power of the lion, just by looking at it."
Evans, a seasoned expert who owns lions and other animals, says there may be up to five lions in the habitat at any time. "This habitat is 10 years ahead of anything I have ever seen," said Evans. "Our goal is to educate the millions of guests who visit Las Vegas as well as show a new, adventurous element at the MGM Grand."
Open from 11:00am to 11:00pm daily. Admission is free. Donations are accepted to organizations that save the wild habitats for the lions.
There is also a Lion Habitat Retail Shop that is open daily from 9am to 11pm. Items available include souvenirs, specialty logo apparel and children's toys.
